Thinking of Starting a Blog?

I want to do a longer post on this in the future, answering questions and helping you how I can, but wanted to give you a little information for anyone looking to start a blog!

When I went to start a blog  nearly 4 years ago I quickly came to realize there was WAY more that goes into starting a blog than I realized! I knew absolutely nothing about blogging whatsoever and really didn’t know anyone who was experienced in the blogging world to reach out to for help. I started through Blogger and was browsing on Etsy for a theme. I randomly came across Kotryna Bass and clicked on her shop because she had a lot of positive reviews and the cutest templates for both WordPress and Blogger. I sent her an email to ask about what she recommended me choosing and she replied with a long and insightful and very helpful response- and this was before I had even purchased anything from her! I was so impressed she would take that time to help me when I hadn’t even bought anything from her yet!

I bought a template from her then and she did ALL the set up! It was incredible because I had nooooo idea what I was doing. She made it a breeze. Then almost 2 years ago I decided I was ready to make the switch from Blogger to WordPress. Again, I had no idea what I was doing. Kotryna offers a service where she will switch over everything for you. Again- she made it SO easy! I chose a new theme from her and we worked together to get it exactly how I wanted it.

I honestly cannot say enough good things about my experience working with her company. She is quick to response, extremely nice, and does a great job designing. I’ve had several friends come to me when they were starting new blogs and I always recommend they go with Kotryna. I’ve included a link, but just a reminder, she is not on Etsy anymore but has her own site!

I want to tell you this today because she is having a sale that ends today! They are offering 50% off our Blogger + WordPress themes on www.kotrynabassdesign.com up until 1am CST 27th of November. Custom Blog Design packages are also priced at 30% off + they also have amazing Web Hosting deals to offer. All of the deals can be found here.

If you go with Kotryna Bass let me know so I can check out your site!

Hey Marykate! I have a similar template as you but for Blogger! I have been using it for about a year. I totally agree, Kotryna is SO helpful especially since I am so not tech savvy. What is the difference between her Blogger and WordPress template? Hope all is well girl!

There were a few different features along with design things that I was wanting for my blog and WordPress is more customizable so thats when we decided it’d be best for me to switch! It’s not quite as easy as Blogger and is more expensive, but has been a good fit for me.

  4. My husband and I have a blog designed by Kotryna!! I actually found her because of you a couple of years ago! Love her work! http://www.mymrandme.com

I’ve had a blog for like 3-4 years and haven’t been getting the amount of readers I hoped for. Plus, I noticed that the AdSense actually isn’t fair. I’ve basically allowed ads on my blog for 4 years and I’m only making money on views when I’m supposed to be making money on the ads. It makes no sense. I want to make my blog my job but it’s only made $2.62. Ugh!! I’m going to have to look into this info on you suggested. I tried creating a WordPress (free package) yesterday and I have no clue what I’m doing.

    Just a quick question!
When you started your blog, did you get domain hosting through a separate provider? And when you switched to WordPress, did you transfer and have your domain hosted through WordPress as well?

I’m debating about transferring over. I’ve had WordPress for awhile now, but it looks like in order to get G-Suite, I would need to transfer everything to WordPress.

Do you have any advice on what provider to use for domain hosting? or G-Suite?
    Thanks so much!

Do you have any tips about how to name a blog?

I just rolled through a ton of different ideas and then just liked this one! But I’d suggest sitting down with pen and paper and making a list of words that pertain to you or things you like. Then just look at synonyms and write those down. This’ll just help spark some ideas and get you thinking, but then just pick what you like best…you really can’t go wrong…its YOUR blog!! 🙂

  9. Oh my goodness I started my own blog after seeing that you used Kotryna Bass and I got one of her templates, and I absolutely love it!!!! If you would like to check it out the link is: https://anawestruckdaughter.com

What if I really want to start a blog but feel like I haven’t accomplished anything super significant in my life yet. I just want it to actually be interesting, you know?

The fun thing about a blog is it is YOURS and can be whatever you want it to be about! I started mine just to document life, having people who want to read it is just such a fun bonus! Just start it and see what happens 🙂

I want to start a blog but I don’t know how to make it “compelling” so that people want to read it. I want it to be biblical/ helping girls that are around my age and younger. How do I make sure it’s relevant?

  12. I started my blog through wordpress! Honestly you were my inspiration to start a blog! I am newly married and so cheap so paying for a template wasn’t in my mind, but maybe if my blogging experience is good and takes off I will have to check that out!
You’re an inspiration so thank you for sharing!
