afternoon on the mount.

One of my favorite memories from last year was when John Luke and I got snowed in at our friends’ house. One of my other favorite memories is when we decided to go on a hike 2 weeks later to have church on a mountain.

I think everyone was having a bit of cabin fever from being stuck inside with it being so cold! The snow had long melted in town, so we hit the road one chilly, March Sunday morning. Well none of us considered the fact that the tops of mountains, especially ones with lots of trees and shade, are much colder. So our 4 car caravan starts up the mountain and all of a sudden we have a slight problem: theres still a ton of snow. Well…we are a determined group…maybe not the wisest, but sure enough determined. So we went for it. And with only one car being 4 wheel drive, the other three got stuck immediately. But praise God for the volunteer firemen who happened to be out for a hike too, who  helped us get our cars turned around and then gave us a life up to the top! Turned out to be an AMAZING day. Especially after we got unstuck and made it home before dark.
SO…we decided to go back this year while there was no snow on the ground AND while the leaves are turning AND on the random November day that it happened to be 80 degrees 🙂
The last time we hit up this mountain Pippa was itty bitty, so she made half the trip in a backpack. But not this time…she was lapping us the whole way up!

We got to the top, spread out our blankets, pulled out the popcorn, then played a little frisbee, a little football, and a little spike ball.

All in all: great friends, great weather, great afternoon.
“‘Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken, nor will my covenant of peace be removed,’ says the Lord who has compassion on you.”
Isaiah 54:10

  5. Mary Kate this verse at the bottom of your post has been what I am clinging to these past few weeks. Life really isn't great but this verse gives me hope and joy in Jesus. Because it's His promise to us. It makes me smile, and your photos make me fall more in love with the outdoors. :)) -Annabell
