a day to celebrate the mamas

wishing all the mothers out there a happy day!
i hope your day was filled to the brim with love, appreciation, and the ones that mean the most to you, because you are so deserving of that.
today i very much enjoyed honoring the amazing women in my life. and one special one in particular.
my mom.
it’s a bit hard to read, but i made a little banner that reads
 “HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY!”
and this little card.
and it looks like that because i am still obsessed with succulents so i think everyone else should be too.

church today was INCREDIBLE.
there was a video testimony of an older lady in the church talking about her mother and everything  spiritual she inherited from her. it was really beautiful and encouraged me to want to just dive deeper into the Word.
then trent followed with his sermon…and this is it summed up:
Godly mothers PREVAIL. they can prevail and raise Godly children despite broken or divided homes. God’s power is greater than our cultural expectation that tells us otherwise. because His strength is made perfect in our weakness.
(when we allow our mind to be consumed by God’s grace for us and not our current situation, that is where we get our strength)
Godly mothers PERSIST. the seeds you are planting WILL COME TO HARVEST (2 tim. 1:5)…but this works both ways…good OR bad seeds will come to harvest. this is not about being perfect, because that is impossible for us. it’s about striving to draw closer to God and fall more in love with our Creator.
Godly mothers PRACTICE. they practice intentional daily spiritual actions. four things all mothers should practice:
1) develop an appetite for the scripture.
2) develop a contemplative prayer life.
3) fellowshipping with the body of the Lord Jesus Christ.
4) develop daily mental discipline.
psalm 37:4 “delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart”
ok, i don’t know about you, but this just completely fired me up! and i’m not even a mama!
but regardless of what stage of life you’re in, this is something we can all work on! whether you don’t have kids yet, have kids, or already have grandchildren, it’s never too early or too late to start practicing these habits and getting this mindset.
so thank you trent for preaching it this morning at church and letting me walk out he door with a challenge!
after church we headed over to 2mama’s for lunch.
shout-out to bobby for chauffeuring us over on the golf-cart…you’re the real mvp.
and to mom for letting me sit in her lap. never too old to be mama’s baby. even if you are engaged 😉
this is my absolutely beautiful mama.
i mean, look at those blue eyes.
i always laugh at the fact that teagon looks more like her than me or kelly.
mom: blonde hair, blue eyes
teagon: blonde hair, blue eyes
kelly: blonde hair, brown eyes
then theres me…
mk: brown hair, brown eyes.
whatttttt?
kelly and sadie…
wait for it, wait for it.
classic.

my man holding a baby….*swoon*
everyone always wants to hold teagy…these girls will make the BEST moms one day.
i also thoroughly enjoyed my early birthday gift today. this dress. loveeee.

now i want to tell you about my mother. her name is shari and she is amazing.
so selfless. so giving. so caring. so loving. so empathetic.
i can go to her with anything and she is always there to listen.
now i watch her and learn from her as she cares for my foster brother.
she’s been my best friend for as long as i can remember. of course she has also been my disciplinarian as well. but always having love behind every word and action.
pictured here is my memaw, barbara ellis mceacharn.
she passed away when i was in 6th grade and she is dearly missed.
but to her i am grateful for giving me her love for painting and cooking.
she was in my thoughts today while her senior ring was on my finger 🙂
today i also celebrated another special woman in my life…mrs. korie.
i truly could not ask for a better mother-in-law. i learn so much from watching her love her children, her husband, and now me.
she is one of the biggest spiritual role models in my life. and i owe her a big thank you, because without her i would not have jl or sadie!
here is my nannie (left) and 2mama.
who love their families with all that they are.
y’all are super women.

then there is mamaw kay and mamaw jo.
two of the absolute sweetest ladies in the entire world.
their kindness never ceases to touch me.

proverbs 31:28 “her children arise and call her blessed…”

dress: free people
booties: duck and dressing

I am so blessed to have come across your blog, your post has encouraged me so much!

It truly amazes how powerful God's Word is, that no matter what season of life we may be in that He can speak to the depths of our hearts.

Came across your blog from Instagram, love it! This post is so sweet! I'm blessed to be a wife and mommy to three little ones and this post is so encouraging! I pray my children will grow to love and walk with the Lord all the days of their lives! I also pray that I can be a wonderful example to them and seems like your momma did just that for you! So excited for you and JL and love that you both love the Lord! I'm excited to follow your blog:)
