It’s no secret at all that I absolutely LOVE AlbionFit! They sent me a swimsuit a couple of years ago and I have been wearing their swimsuits and athletic wear ever since! They are a clothing company that specializes in swimsuits, but they also have athletic wear and leisure wear, and all of their products are top quality. They are always coming out with the cutest patterns and I love all their different styles. AND they are more modest and stay in place which means you can run around and be active in your suit without worrying about it falling down. Plus the team behind this company is so incredible and I have really enjoyed my relationship with them. Obviously, can’t say enough good things about this company.
So about a month ago Albion emailed me and asked me if I wanted to come along on a girls trip to Mexico with them and some of the other girls they work with! Sounded great to me! So last Wednesday my friend Rachel dropped me off at the airport, and I took off for Cancun!
We stayed at this INCREDIBLE resort called Vidanta Riviera Maya. You guys. If you are ever headed to Cancun, this is the place to stay. If you are not headed to Cancun, you should book a flight then go stay there haha. They had the best staff who were so incredibly kind. I was a little nervous about traveling out of the country alone, but I felt so safe there the whole time. Also, the food was amazingggg and the whole place was just beautiful.
I got to meet a ton of new girls too! From left to right in the picture above.
She and her sister Ellie were my roommates! She was super fun 🙂 You can find her on Youtube and Instagram. She vlogs about her fam and also talks about body positivity. And her and her sister Ellie just came out with their own clothing line, Bollie Brand!
Then there is me. Duh. lol.
I have been following Zoe on instagram for a while now, so it was so fun to meet her in real life! Her instagram feed is one of my favorites! She always wears the cutest things and inspires me with her photography. You can find her on Instagram and her blog. And she just came out with some presets for any of you looking to buy new presets for Lightroom!
Jaci Marie Smith
Then behind the scenes I had so much fun getting to know and talk to Madeline, Amber, Jess, and Natalia! Jess was our photographer and is crazy out-of-this-world talented!!
It was a short trip but a really good trip. It was my first time out of the country by myself and I did not know any of the girls going into it, so it was a good growing experience for me!! I was honestly so nervous going. Going into it felt so similar to my first summer camp experience. A new place and new people can always feel a little intimidating, but I know that it’s when I get out of my comfort zone that I find myself growing. I know I was right where God wanted me for those few short days. It was really fun getting to meet new people and I always love getting to spend time in the sun, especially since we had snow in Lynchburg just last week!
We spent the first day at Vidanta and started the morning with a breakfast together in one of our rooms! I am all about acaí and smoothie bowls, and this bowl was the BEST I have ever had. Plus, put anything in a coconut and it’s that much better in my opinion! We had fun looking around the resort and checking out their different pools. I can hardly explain how HUGE this place was. I read that there are 17 restaurants….AMAZING! We went down to the ocean for a little while and then went out on some catamarans. That was definitely a trip highlight for me. Another highlight of that day was dinner. I asked for the catch-of-the-day which was some kind of white fish, but then out waiter proudly whispered to me they had fresh tuna that wasn’t on the menu and he’d get me a piece. Haha seriously made my day! I said YES and ate one of the best tuna steaks ever.
Day 2 we woke up early and went to a “cenote” which is like a natural pit with water. Basically swam in a cave. That was a first for me and it was so stinking cool- figuratively and literally…..it was cold haha. Then from there we headed to a beautiful lagoon where we got to snorkel. I LOVE snorkeling. Ahhh was in my element. From there we headed back to the hotel for lunch where I had the best ceviche I have ever had. If you don’t know what ceviche is, it’s kind of raw, but not raw fish at the same time haha. It’s “cooked” in citrus juice. So it’s really lime-y and you eat it with corn chips. If you are ever in Mexico, the Caribbean, or South America, definitely try it. We swam for a while and got to relax by the pool, then me, Ellie, and Bonnie went to see the crocodiles!! Several crocodiles have wandered onto the resort property, so the resort now has some crocodile habitats where they can live safely. Being from Louisiana I have seen my fair share of alligators, but crocodiles are like some kind of rarity and just AMAZE me.
On one of my flights I watched Geostorm, but on pretty much every other flight I was reading my friend’s new book, Everybody Always. If you haven’t read Love Does read that first then read this one! Bob Goff is one of the most incredible people who lives a life of love. He inspires me so much and honestly through his writing has pushed and inspired so many conversations and things for me I would otherwise not have had the courage to do. If you need a boost of faith, courage, and love (and who doesn’t?!) I would recommend you read this! I have so enjoyed it.
So, I had a great time in Mexico and am really thankful for the experience. Shout out to Albion for taking me along and Vidanta for giving me a place to stay and hang. You both have got the most incredible teams and I am so happy I got to spend some time with you guys 🙂
AND if you don’t have an Albion swimsuit I TRULY think you would love them. If you do have one, I’ll just say these new ones are my favorite ones yet! Everything I have from Albion is top quality and have never had a problem with any of it. They have got things for all sizes too! Even maternity! Albion gave me a discount code to share with you if you want a swimmie for this summer! You can use MARYKATEGT15 for 15% off your order.
