^^the name of our group text while in Hilton Head haha.
This past week was our spring break! Last year at this time, John Luke and I were just getting back from a trip to Israel with some of our best friends. That was one of the best weeks of my life- not just seeing the Holy Land, but going on an adventure with our friends away from school. I think we all kind of decided then (at least I did) that we wanted to always do spring break together. Every other break JL and I go home so this would be the one where we take a trip with friends. The only downside was I hadn’t seen my side of the family since Christmas break, and wasn’t going to see them till summer. Well this year I got the best of both worlds! Not only did I get a get-away with friends, but my mom and Teagon joined us too! I really consider it such a blessing to be able to have my mom and 3-year old brother be able to be on my spring break trip…I don’t think thats a very common thing haha, but it really turned out to be a blast!
Hilton Head is a little island in South Carolina and only 7 hours from where we live in Lynchburg. I’ve never vacationed anywhere on the east coast before and it was such a treat. The trees and Spanish moss and flowers on the drive in made me feel like I was in a Nicholas Sparks book! I was riding with my friend Zoe and we were blasting “She Will Be Loved” and pretending to be Miley in the Last Song.
The day before we left, my Duck and Dressing trend box came in the mail. Perfect timing. The pullover I have on came in it and it sure came in handy on the trip because it was COLD.
Disclaimer: If it looks like I’m wearing the same clothes over and over again in all my pictures…its because I am. A cool front came through and because of that I only wore maybe 25% of what I packed haha.
Also this hat was like $15 on Amazon. I fell in love with hats similar to this on instagram, but couldn’t make myself pay at least $80 for one. I am all about a good price. Just sharing the love with ya..link right here.
Speaking of the cold…, and I’m not trying to be dramatic, I think God completely came in this past week and changed my desires. I love the beach and am the kind of person who is content to stay on the sand and in the water all day. We had one day when it was 60 degrees and could sorta lay out, but every other day it was freezing. I felt like normally I would be really disappointed, but I enjoyed every second in Hilton Head, in spite of the cold, and am so happy with how the week turned out. Not to overspiritualize something, but I prayed about the weather at the beginning of the week and God didn’t come in and bring warm, sunshiney weather, but I really do think He came in and changed my heart about it. So shout-out to God on that one!!
Also shout-out to John Luke for bringing the Wii. This seat was a pretty popular one for the week. Mario Cart for the win!! The biggest fan was probably Baby T (who unbeknownst to him, was always holding a controller that wasn’t plugged in 😉 )
Speaking of Baby T…more than half my pictures will be of him…soooo…ya.
But are they not the cutest together or what?!
This was Teagon’s and Pippa’s first time to the beach! I had the best time watching them get to experience it. Teagon wasn’t so sure the first day, but by the end of the week he was IN LOVE.
Zoe, Leighton, and I decided to ride bikes on the beach one evening. We started down the beach and it was seriously SO magical. I was going on and on about it and we were talking and laughing. We rode probably 2 miles and started to get a little cold and decided to turn around. We soon realized the first half we were going with the wind…now we were going against the wind. It was so hard and so cold we were screaming haha. By the time we made it to the house it was dead silent because we were all so miserable hahaha. We laughed about it for the rest of the trip.
So here’s some pictures from the first couple of days. I got a new camera right before the trip and ended up taking over 2,000 pictures! So check back throughout the week for more posts and lots of more pictures! I love having my memories on my blog to look back on and I love sharing them with anyone who wants to take a peak into my life. This past week and these people in the pictures share such a big place in my heart!
